The expansion module connects through Tesla’s dedicated Expansion Harness and uses the connected Powerwall 3 inverter. It increases stored energy and potential backup duration without adding a separate inverter or increasing the system’s inverter output rating.

Choose an individual wall-mounted installation or an approved floor-mounted stack behind Powerwall 3. The appropriate mounting kit and Expansion Harness are ordered separately.

Installation & Compatibility

This module requires a compatible Powerwall 3 and cannot operate independently or connect directly to Powerwall 2 or Powerwall+. Select the Tesla Wall-Mount Expansion Kit or Stacking Expansion Kit and the correct Expansion Harness for the layout. Installation and commissioning must follow Tesla’s requirements for the equipment revision and site configuration.
